REVIEW QUOTES:
"...a chilling experience inside death row, where murderers, rapists and pedophiles become victims."
- Barbara Torretti, DARKVEINS

"...pulls no punches to bring to life a psychotic world."
- William Meeker, TFK's WEB OF INDIE HORROR AND SCIENCE FICTION

"Although there is torturing in it, there is more plot and other elements that dig much deeper, both into the story and characters than just trying to gross out your audience with sadistic torture scenes. ...there’s more to it than that and that’s what separates this from most films of this type."
- Andrew Peters, KINKY HORROR GOON REVIEW

Looking for a perfect scare this Halloween? Look no further, you've found it. Starring Bill Oberst Jr., a veteran horror actor whom I have seen in various roles over the years, and the late Roddy Piper, this is a faithful and slightly expanded version of the graphic novel of the same name. It's not as gory as some other independent horror films I've seen, but it captures the depravity of humanity so well, you'll be afraid to go to sleep at night for fear of seeing The Warden in your nightmares.
The story in the graphic novel, as I said, needed a bit more detail. The gore didn't come through the way it does here in the film. Every scream, every bit of anguish, you feel. It's like you're there in the prison with them.
The twist (one of them, anyway), is that the people getting tortured are rapists and murderers, and you find yourself enjoying their pain more than you probably should. The deeper part of the story, the really horrific part, I can't talk about for fear of spoilers. But I can say that what's very scary in this movie, even more than what happens to the inmates, is why.
This is dark, cringing, psychological horror at its finest.

5/5--I liked the movie better than the graphic novel!
